Case Study - The Post Office
Analysing data and Segmenting the Network
The Problem:
How do you undertake rigorous database and statistical analyses and communicate the results so everyone can easily understand?
The Solution
We were involved in the analysis stage with academics at Leeds University and then designed a communication and presentation method that illustrated the results in a creative and engaging context without undermining the validity and necessary complexity of the data.
Other organisations who undertake segmentation analyses usually end up communicating the results in traditional spreadsheet tabular form. We took a different view. First we took the segmentation analysis and created a crystal map of the 14000 or branches within the network. This made it visually easy to see exactly how individual branches were categorised without ever losing sight of the fact that this is one organisation - important for unity and a 'one team -one vision' focus.
Next we designed a unique visualisation of the branch segmentation using a tree as the metaphor to grab attention and make it truly memorable. Both elements were deployed digitally and in print formats.

"Crystal Mapping© gives us a really fresh and innovative visual approach to some of the database work we are doing. Crystal Mapping has helped us to cluster & condense disparate ideas into an organized, coherent framework, helping to join the pieces together and see the joined-up picture, through a simple, intuitive interface"
